He is survived by: his wife Rose Penwell; his children, Deborah Coates, Kimberly McKittrick (John), Larry Penwell (Alex) and Misty Miller (Craig); his grandchildren, Angela, Crystal, Amber, Ashley, Brittany and Seth; and his brother Larry "Stubby" Penwell. He is also survived by 16 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation was held on Thursday, October 1st 2026 from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Newcomer Funeral Home (4104 Needmore Rd, Dayton, OH 45424). A funeral service was held on Thursday, October 1st 2026 at 4:00 PM at the same location.
