She was predeceased by: her parents, Carl H. Rubey and Dorothy Rubey (Arnold); her husband Hugh Bradley Hess; her brothers, Wayne Rubey (Toni), Jim Rubey (Nancy) and Jerry Rubey (Jane); and her niece Terri Neff.
She is survived by: her daughter Susan Knowles (Chris); and her grandsons, Brannon Knowles (Kayla) and Trevor Knowles (Allison). She is also survived by nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 16th 2026 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Baker Hazel & Snider Funeral Home (5555 Philadelphia Dr, Dayton, OH 45415). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 17th 2026 at 10:00 AM at the Fort McKinley United Methodist Church (3721 W Siebenthaler Ave, Dayton, OH 45406).
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Fort McKinley UMC or Adoration Hospice.
