He was predeceased by: his parents, Alex Tarkany and Mary Tarkany; his siblings, Helen Higgs (Stu) and Alex Tarkany (Anna); his nephew Joseph Martin Tarkany; his son-in-law Steven Fortener; his brother-in-law Terry Webb; and his pets, Tex, Smokey, Tasha, Hogan and Mia.
He is survived by: his wife Linda; his children, Chuck Tarkany, Michael Tarkany (Melissa), Jeffrey Smith (Reiko), Ronda Fortener and Steven Smith (Windhi); and his grandchildren, A. J. Tarkany (Beth), Christian Tarkany (Maria), Michael B. Tarkany (Janine), Matthew Tarkany, Mitchell Tarkany (Brianna), Mary Tarkany, Maddie Tarkany, Joshua Smith (Erin), Matthew Smith, Brooke Davenport (Shaun), Brett Fortener (Amanda), Bridget Fortener, Bryan Fortener (Lacie), Brittany Steele (Ryan), Corrin Rush (Austin), Caleb Smith, Cameron Smith and Jordan Smith. He is also survived by numerous great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
