He was predeceased by: his parents, Bernie Mathes and Alice Mathes (Fiely); and his sister Sue Mathes (DeSanty). He is survived by: his wife Judith Mathes (McKinney); his son Paul Mathes (Tara); his grandchildren, Nathan, David, Riley and Collin; and his siblings, Mary Showers (Tom), Julie Finke (Bill) and Pat Mathes (Dee).
Viewing will be held on Tuesday, December 16th 2025 from 8:00 AM to 9:30 AM at the Westbrock Funeral Home (1712 Wayne Ave, Dayton, OH 45410). A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Tuesday, December 16th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the Holy Trinity Church (272 Bainbridge St, Dayton, OH 45402).
