He was predeceased by: his parents, Reverend Eddie Bates and Myrtle Bates (Fultz); his niece Leah Nickell; and his stepson Ronald Hensley. He is survived by: his wife Ann Bates (Austin); his children, Scott Bates and Leanne (Rawle Mahadeo); his siblings, Sandy Bates Madden (Ronnie), Terry Bates (Glenna), Sherry McConnehea (Roy), Toney Bates and Sheila Miller (Roger); and his grandchildren, Owen, Angela and Victoria. He is also survived by 3 great-grandchildren and many amazing nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that contributions in memory of Tim be made to the Baptist Tabernacle Church.
