She was predeceased by: her parents, Melvin Newsome and Pearl Dawson-Newsome; her husbands, Reverend Ora Whipple "Whip" Holbrook and Earl Wiley Parsons; and her siblings, Bill, Buck, Bud and Lula.

She is survived by: her children, Bettie Travis-Mercurio (Paul) and Ed Holbrook (Kim); her sister Melvina; and her grandchildren, Ben Wilkinson (Brittany) and Ashley Travis.
