He was predeceased by: his parents, Claris "Bob" Steele and Dorothy Steele (Boyd); his great grandchild Deven Dietrich; and his brother Ralph Steele. He is survived by: his wife Barbara Steele of Defiance; his children, Dawn Ludwig (Michael) of Defiance and Dean Steele (Connie) of Wauseon, Ohio.; his grandchildren, Christine Spencer, Danny Joe Spencer of Sherwood, Aleasha Johns (Jeff), Joshua Ludwig (Samantha) of Defiance, Hannah Fischer (Andrew) of Archbold, Rebekah Ater (Michael) of Ft. Bragg, NC, Jacob Steele (Kimberly) of Delta and Reagan Steele (Dakota Stirtz) of Wauseon; his great grandchildren, Tiszon, Connor, Avah, Warren, Danny Jr., Waylen Spencer, Deagan, Kendel, Daxton Johns, Avery Acevedo, Oliver, Elena Ludwig, Cooper, Iyla Fischer, Charlotte and Madeleine Ater; and his sister-in-law Jean Steele.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 28th 2026 from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Thursday, October 29th 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Schaffer Funeral Home (529 Jefferson Ave, Defiance, OH 43512). A funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 29th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
