We announce the death of Valerie Lynn Heitzman of Defiance, Ohio, who passed away on September 15, 2026, at the age of 65. Valerie will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. Valerie will be remembered for the impact she had on the lives of those around her. Friends, family, and colleagues will cherish their memories and the time shared. Those who knew Valerie will remember moments of kindness, warmth, and presence. Though words cannot fully capture her life, the legacy of connections and experiences remains. Valerie’s absence will be deeply felt by those who valued her companionship.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Lee Kesler and Carole Kesler (Dowler); and her brother-in-law Bo Miller. She is survived by: her children, Ashley Verhoff of Defiance and Marc Heitzman (Debbie) of Jerome, MI; her grandson Brody Verhoff; and her siblings, Nick Kesler (Joni) of Port Orange, FL and Rosalie Miller of Wapakoneta.
Visitation was held on Friday, September 18th 2026 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Saturday, September 19th 2026 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at the Heitmeyer Funeral Home (207 W Rice St, Continental, OH 45831). A funeral service was held on Saturday, September 19th 2026 at 10:00 AM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to CHP Hospice.
