He is survived by: his children, Kevin Backus (Jane) of Delphos, David Backus (Sue) of Delphos, Cheryl Nungester (Greg) of Lima and Diana Wurst (Mark) of Delphos; his grandchildren, Kristi Neill (Adam), Stephanie Kriegel (Braden), Patrick Nungester, Kiley Rerko (Don), Brian Backus (Megan), Jenna Musser (Ryan), Justin Backus (Allison), Alaina Jacobs (Jason) and Jared Wurst (Cassidy); his great grandchildren, Tyler, Kennedy Neill, Avery, Adelynn, Amelia Kreigel, Grady, Joelle Rerko, Branson Backus, Ensley, Myles Musser, Reese, Cameron Backus and Baby Wurst; his sister Janet Donahue of Maumee; and his in-laws, Kenneth Williams, Jerry Amato, Bernie Art (Jocie), Patricia Hoyng, Cathy Gorsuch (Chuck), Georgie Nungester (Bill), Ken Art, Jim Donahue, Rosie Amato and Jim Hoyng. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 6th 2025 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Weber Funeral Home (1840 E 5th St, Delphos, OH 45833). A rosary will be held on Sunday, July 6th 2025 at 6:30 PM at the same location. A wake will be held on Sunday, July 6th 2025 at 7:00 PM at the same location. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday, July 7th 2025 at 12:00 PM at the St. John the Evangelist Church. A burial will be held on Monday, July 7th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the St. John's Cemetery E. Second (110 N Pierce St, Delphos, OH 45833).
