With profound sadness, we say goodbye to John R. Shafer of Delphos, Ohio, born in Van Wert, Ohio, whose vibrant spirit touched the lives of many. Though John may no longer walk among us, his spirit lives on in the echoes of his kindness, the warmth of his embrace, and the light of his enduring love.
He was predeceased by: his brother-in-law Mert Baker; and his brother Lester E. Shafer. He is survived by: his children, Jeffrey R. Shafer of Elida Ohio, Kimberley A. Merschman and Kelley M. Beining (Craig) of Delphos; his sister-in-law Barbara Shafer of Delphos; and his sister Joan Baker of Rochester Minnesota. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 19th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the Weber Funeral Home (1840 E 5th St, Delphos, OH 45833). A wake will be held on Sunday, October 19th 2025 at 5:00 PM at the same location. A funeral Mass will be held on Monday, October 20th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church (331 E 2nd St, Delphos, OH 45833). A burial will be held on Monday, October 20th 2025 at the Ridge Cemetery.
