He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Edward "Chuck" and Mary Caroline McConnell (Kopp); his wife Mary Jo Baumberger-McConnell (Scaffidi); and his daughter Rebecca "Becky" McConnell. He is survived by: his children, Chad McConnell (Tasha) and Brittany Richards (Bryant); his grandchildren, Austin, Angel, Jase McConnell, Aiden Matthews, Layla and Emmie Richards; his siblings, Ron McConnell (Donna) and Barb Graef (Steve); and his nieces, Steph Bachman and Lori Shields.
