He was predeceased by : his former life partner Mildred Yager (Stacey); his wife Cindy Yager (Ross); his son Derrick Whittington; his parents, Herbert H. Yager and Sara Yager Hague (Van Fossen); his stepfather Jack Hague; and his sister Barbara Bowden.

He is survived by : his children, Brian Yager (Nichole), Beth Ann Adams (Bill) and Karissa Sickelsmith (Eric); his grandchildren, Kylie Whittington (Zack Cameron), Nikki Riggs (Michael), Chelsea Waymon (Victor), Tala Yager, Taylor Smith and Blake Alexander; his brother-in-law Robert Bowden; and his nieces, Rae Ann and Robin Bowden. He is also survived by six great grandsons.
