He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Bernabei and Elizabeth Bernabei (Shirey); his son Richard Robert Bernabei; his grandson David Michael Bernabei II; and his brother Daniel "Butch" Bernabei.

He is survived by: his sister Deborah Bernabei; his children, David Bernabei (Julie), Steve Bernabei and Angela Bernabei; his grandchildren, Brooke Meneses (Sergio) and Anthony Bernabei (Caitlyn); and his great grandchildren, Sawyer, Colt, Cruz Meneses, Shiloh Meneses and Margaret Bernabei.
