He was predeceased by: his parents, Virgil Eugene Gist and Doris May Gist Carver (Maynard); his son Ryan Matthew Gist; his stepfather Ernie Carver; and his siblings, Lanny Gist and Mary Ann Ketchmark.
He is survived by: his wife Carol Gist of Edison; his son Anthony "Tony" Gist (Melody) of York, PA; his grandchildren, Ava and Asher Gist; his stepmother Twila McClaren Gist; and his brother Michael Gist (Kathy) of Leesburg, Florida. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
