He was predeceased by: his nephew Scott Parson. He is survived by: his parents, Robert and Lanata; his siblings, Dale Parson (Ginger), Cynthia Parson (Neal) and David Parson (Tracy); and his siblings' children, Nicholas, Nathan (Ashley), Jeremy, Olivia, Hannah, Mason and Harper.

Visitation will be held on Monday, December 15th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Laubenthal Mercado Funeral Home (38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd, Elyria, OH 44035). A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, December 16th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the same location.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Joey's name can be sent to Joel's favorite charity Northeast Ohio SPCA 9995 Brookpark Road, Parma, Ohio 44129.
