He was predeceased by: his parents, Ella McDowell and Peter McDowell; and his siblings, Raymond, Edward, Joseph McDowell, Helen Gentner and Patricia Phillips.
He is survived by: his wife Marianne; his children, Lauren (John Champ) and Robert (Diane); and his grandchildren, Peter, James, John, Colin and Veronica. He is also survived by in-laws; many nieces and nephews; and an abundance of friends.
