He is survived by: his wife Penelope Lou Cole Thompson; his children, Kirsten Ransdell (Paul), Tressa Hartsell (Jonathan) and Trent Thompson (Sara); his grandchildren, Blythe, Paige, Pierce, Cade, Grace, Brynn and Laurel; his sister Judy Marks; and his nephews, Jeff and Jeremy.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Faith Lutheran Church Endowment Fund.
