He was predeceased by: his parents, William Harry and Ida Criss (Ohlrogge); his wife Mary Lou Markham; his sisters, Ruth and Esther; and his stepbrother Clarence.

He is survived by: his daughters, Cheryl Criss Krueger Short of Dayton, Amy Criss Yackee (Bruce) of Findlay and Eileen Criss Buddie (Len) of Brunswick, Ohio; his grandchildren, Geoff Buddie (Chris Rom), Bill Krueger (Amy Gearing), Ann Krueger Sander (Mike), Kristen Yackee Poploskie (Jon), Jason Buddie (Amy) and Jenn Buddie; and his great grandchildren, Will Krueger, Drew Krueger, Matthew, David, Samantha Sander, Henry, Morgan, Oliver Poploskie, Jacob, Max Buddie, Olivia and Oskar Karas.
