He was predeceased by: his parents, James Grover Compton and Roxy Marie Compton (Bracy); his sons, Michael D. Compton and James D. Compton; and his sisters, Eunice Rutter, Sylvia Berger, Vivian Burns and Sarah Grubb.
He is survived by: his wife Sue Peterman. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
