He was predeceased by: his parents, Frank Gaertner and Gladys Gaertner (Wickman); his daughter Kimberly Gaertner-Pizzuti; and his former wife Cheryl Cubberley (Ede). He is survived by: his wife Dawn Gaertner; his daughters, Betsy Hughes (Todd) of Cape Coral, FL and Barbara Hamner (Phil) of Cape Coral, FL; his stepdaughter April Darrington of Findlay; and his grandchildren, Adam Armstrong (Kate), Aaron Armstrong (Morganne), Courtney DeForest (Ethan), Bryce Hughes, Derek Griffin, Brett Griffin, Taylor Doyle, Brenden Pizzuti, Trevor Hanes and Trinity Gorman.

Memorials may be given to the Humane Society & SPCA of Hancock County, 4550 Fostoria Ave., Findlay, 45840 in John Gaertner or Benny Gaertner's names.
