He was predeceased by: his parents, Willis Fay of Oregon and Vivian Elizabeth Fay; his siblings, Connie and Gary; and his grandchildren, Danielle Fay (Sabrina Zacharias) and Justice Carr.

He is survived by: his wife Alice Boerger; his sons, Michael W. (Barb), R. Regan (Donna), Kip E. (Jacqueline), Bradley D. (Mihoko) and Roger W. (Irene); and his sister Patricia.

Memorial donations in Richard's honor may be made to the Samaritan's Purse or the St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
