He was predeceased by: his parents, Royal Johnson and Eva Johnson (Erickson); his daughter Laurie Hammond; his grandsons, Ian and Andrew; and his brother Larry Johnson.

He is survived by: his wife Phyllis Carpenter; his children, Michael Johnson (Marcy Almaguer) of Atascadero, CA, Kenneth Johnson (Imelda Gorman) of Houston, TX and Lisa Place of Findlay; his son-in-law Terry Hammond of Fostoria; and his grandchildren, Adam (Julie), Bridget, Nick and Elizabeth. He is also survived by 5 great-grandchildren.
