He was predeceased by: his parents, John Kenneth and Phyllis Moening (Webken); his wife Joan Welly; his daughter Heather Moening; and his siblings, Stephen Moening and Barbara Sehlhorst.
He is survived by: his daughters, Amanda Moening (Mike Welker) of Bucyrus and Bernadette Dyer (Avery II) of Plattsburg, MO; his stepdaughters, Jennifer Dean (Jim King) of Sevierville, TN and Jessica Canterbury (Shane) of Sevierville, TN; his siblings, Linda Nienberg (Stephen) of Ottawa, Paul Moening of Kalida, Leonard Moening of Kalida, Marilyn "Myrt" Sehlhorst of Ottawa, Kathy Leap (John) of Ottawa and Patty Winkle (Dale) of Kalida; and his brother-in-law Joe Sehlhorst of Ottawa. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Friday, October 31st 2025 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Saturday, November 1st 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. A funeral Mass was held on Saturday, November 1st 2025 at 11:30 AM at the Saint Mary's Catholic Church (159 N Main St, Kirby, OH 43330).
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to American Heart Association or Riverdale Community Lions Club or a charity of the donor's choice, and can be sent to Lucas-Batton, 476 S. Sandusky Ave. Upper Sandusky, OH 43351.
