He was predeceased by: his father Otta Gorrell; his daughter Rose Marie Greer; his siblings, Margaret Singer, Alama Ruth Frankhouser and Vernon VanAtta; and his stepparents, Richard Smith and Retha Cook.
He is survived by: his wife Ruth Marie Oswald; and his children, Connie Sue Wilcox, Randy VanAtta (Sonja) of Findlay and DeWayne VanAtta of Findlay. He is also survived by four grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren and 1 great-great granddaughter.
