He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Burns and Esther Burns (Mitchell); his wife Brenda "Kathy" Duty (Ferguson); his son Aaron Michael Burns; and his siblings, Helen Rose Burns, Robert "Bill" Burns, Tom Burns, Ruth Hakes and Jean Forsythe.
He is survived by: his children, Stephen Burns (Qiujie) of Fremont, OH, Christine Burns of Fremont, OH, Denise Boerst of Maumee, OH, Laura (Eric), Beth Reyes (Fernando) of Fremont, OH and James Duty (Tracey) of Reading, PA; his grandchildren, David (Brandi), Samantha, Stephanie, Amanda, Abbey, Cyle (Chrissy), Derek (Hannah), Madeline, Caleb, Lindsay (Logan), Kylie (Jeffery), Andrew, Ethan, Molly, Jordan, Jaron and Jelena; and his sister Judy Sevitts. He is also survived by nineteen great grandchildren.
Memorials can be made in David's honor to St. Joseph Church, the Liberty Center or the Humane Society of Sandusky County.
