He was predeceased by: his parents, John "Big Thunder" Lewis, Jr. and Carrie Mae McMichael (Graham); his grandparents, Rev. Adolphus and Ella Graham; his wife Sheila Lewis; his former wife Beth Lewis; his siblings, Dalaney Lewis, Desiree Ford and Derrick Lewis; Robert and Mildred Willey.
He is survived by: his siblings, Lorna McKinstry (Lee) and Dante Lewis of Lansing, MI; his children, Jennifer Lewis, Sarah J. Lewis, Samantha Lewis, John Lewis IV, Jovan Lewis and Jacob Lewis; his grandchildren, Shunnar Gamble Jr., Mychael "Huddy" Gamble, Jalyce Anderson, Jeremiah Gutierrez, Amara Lewis, Rylen Lewis and Olive Lewis; and his great grandchildren, Lae'Lani Gamble, Parys Gamble and Shunnar Gamble III.
