He was predeceased by: his parents, Clemens Szymanowski and Annarose Speildenner; and his son Steven Jr.. He is survived by: his wife Anita; his children, Amy Wenning (Jesse) and Andrew Szymanowski (Jessica); his daughter-in-law Carrie Hart; his grandchildren, Isla, Ellie, Ethan, Erin, Stella and Emma; and his siblings, Ruthann Recktenwald (Richard), Marlene Daubel (Phil) and John Szymanowski (Pat). He is also survived by nieces & nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Heartland Hospice, Catholic Relief Services (https://www.crs.org) or to St. Joseph Catholic Church.
