He was predeceased by: his parents, James R. Bauer Sr. and Mary Bauer (Dalton); his brother Patrick Bauer; his parents-in-law, Mario and Isabel Vara, Sr.; his siblings-in-law, Maria Vara and Rudy Vara; his niece Heather Bauer; his close friend Steven Kramer; and his pet Jessica.
He is survived by: his wife Olivia Bauer; his children, Thomas Bauer Jr. (Kathy) and Jaime Ritzman (Robb); his grandchildren, Christopher Sheetz, Maygan, Anna Bauer, Isabelle and Grayson Ritzman; his great grandchildren, Willow and Hazel Sheetz; his brothers, James Bauer, Jr. (Jere) and Michael Bauer (Mary Jo); and his siblings-in-law, Hortensia Clevenger (Jay), Diana Vara and Mario Vara, Jr. (Cheryl). He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 7th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Wonderly Horvath Hanes Funeral Home and Crematory (425 E State St, Fremont, OH 43420). A prayer will be held on Tuesday, October 7th 2025 at 7:00 PM at the same location. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Wednesday, October 8th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the St. Joseph Catholic Church (709 Croghan St, Fremont, OH 43420).
Memorials can be made in his honor to St. Joseph Catholic Church or Heartland Hospice.
