He was predeceased by: his parents, Hassell Johnson and Daisy Johnson (Fouts); and his siblings, James Johnson, Vassa "Linda" High, Edna Sanders and Della Dameron.

He is survived by: his children, Sara Hively (Joe Haney) of Crestline and Sean Johnson (Kim) of Mansfield; his brother Frank Johnson; and his close friend Jean Ness. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
