He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Fry and Velma Fry (Tischer); and his siblings, Geraldine, Doris, Iris, Clifford and Charles.

He is survived by: his wife Shirley Mae Fry (Shaffer); his children, Christina Johnson and Robert Fry (Tammy); his grandchildren, Stacy Moots, Sabrina Moots, Natalie Kemp, Brandon Fry and Jared Fry; his nieces, Vickie Mason and Pam Phelps; and his nephew Charles "Sonny" Fry. He is also survived by 10 great grandchildren.
