With sadness, we share the passing of Joyce Shearer of Galion, Ohio. Joyce, born on May 30, 1942, passed away on September 3, 2026. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Lewis Kemp and Ella Mae Kemp; her husband Al Shearer; her sons, Dallas Wayne Miller Jr. and Michael Aldon Shearer; her siblings-in-law, Peter Haas and Diane Kemp; her son-in-law Scott Wahlstrom; and her friend Phil Thornsberry.
She is survived by: her children, Cathy Shifley (James), Kim Arter, Synthia Wahlstrom and Amy Hoffman (Ronald); her siblings, Jane Haas and Larry Kemp; her siblings-in-law, Michael Shearer and Phyllis Northcutt; her grandchildren, Wendi (Kevin Collins), Zwaduk, Brian Shifley (Amber Robertson), Cassandra Schlichtholz (Paul), Bobbi Wooton (Cathe), Andrew Wahlstrom (Bethany), Nicole Miller (Blaine), Justin Stinehelfer, Cody Stinehelfer (Stacy), Courtnie Thomas (Quinn), Mitchel Hoffman (Amber Carr) and Nathan Hoffman (Tory Hall); and her great grandchildren, Travis Zwaduk, Abigail Shifley, Nora Wahlstrom, Lillyanne Stinehelfer, Scarlett Stinehelfer, Ally Stinehelfer, Bella Ohl, Hudson Thomas, Kodie Thomas, Harper Hoffman, Sadie Hoffman, Faye Hoffman and Iris Hoffman.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, September 8th 2026 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Gompf Funeral Service - Galion Chapel (303 Portland Way N, Galion, OH 44833). A funeral service was held on Tuesday, September 8th 2026 at 1:00 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital in care of Joyce Shearer.
