With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Sara L. Cheney of Gallipolis, Ohio, who passed away on December 12, 2025 at the age of 87. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Marvin Wayne and Ella Bell Hersman Baird; her former husband Carl Cheney; her daughter Carla Finnicum; and her brothers, Michael Baird and Charles "Cricket" Baird.
She is survived by: her children, Carl L. Cheney (Liz) of Florida, Tim Cheney of Gallipolis, Richard Cheney (Brenda) of Gallipolis and Delman Cheney (Susan) of Gallipolis; her son-in-law Paul Finnicum of Gallipolis; her grandchildren, Jessica Lloyd (Tony), Jennifer Riffle (Joey), John Paul Finnicum (Jenifer), Joseph Finnicum and Brianna Brock; her great grandchildren, Keagahn Lloyd, Karlee Lloyd, Sophia Finnicum and Sawyer Finnicum; and her siblings, Marvin Baird (Phyllis) of Gallipolis, John Baird of Nevada, Linda Macias of Gallipolis, Louise Woodall of Gallipolis, Hope Armstrong of Orlinda, TX, Patty Sims (Tom) of Camden, Phil Baird (Tanya) of Gallipolis and Gail Baird of Gallipolis. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 17th 2025 from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM at the Willis Funeral Home (12 Garfield Ave, Gallipolis, OH 45631). A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, December 17th 2025 at 1:30 PM at the same location.
