He was predeceased by: his parents, Marcus Watson Pender and Margaret Oswald Pender; and his son Michael James Pender. He is survived by: his wife Kathy Chilcote Pender; his children, Katherine "Katie" Clark (Jeremy) and Marc Matthew Pender; his grandchildren, Matthew, Charlotte Pender, Katherine and Tyler Clark; and his sister Susan Hollister. He is also survived by nieces and great nieces.
A funeral service was held on Saturday, September 19th 2026 at 1:30 PM at the Our Lady Chapel (2045 SOM Ctr Rd, Gates Mills, OH 44040).
He was involved with the Cleveland Foundation, where a fund established in Michael's memory helped support children and programs addressing special needs.
