He was predeceased by: his parents, Chester Mockbee and Olga Mockbee (Powell); his son Gary Petrey; and his brother Jim Bob Mockbee. He is survived by: his wife Susan Mockbee; his children, Olga Manning (Brent), Danny Hartman (Dorinda), Joe Mockbee and Donna Mockbee; his grandchildren, Payton, Jewely, Lia, Alanna of Cameron, CC, Joy, Elaina, Legend and Gideon; his sister Tawana Cavicchioni; and his siblings-in-law, Sandra Dalton (Kenneth), Terri Conley and Harry Hartman.
