He was predeceased by: his parents, James Welch and Dorothy Welch Sr. (Hodge); and his siblings, Eddie Welch, Sandra Boccieri and Sealenia Jornigan.
He is survived by: his children, James "Jimmy" Welch III (Holly) of Youngstown, Nicole Wheatley of Austintown, Samantha Welch (Allen Fisher) of Hubbard and Sierra Welch (Austin Kupec) of Poland; his siblings, Sharon Rudisill of Virginia, Sheila Cornell (George) of Girard and Gary Welch of Girard; his sister-in-law Kim Welch; his grandchildren, Ashlee, Chelsea, Nick, Jacqueline, Chase, Angeleena and Jackson; and his close friend Linda Beck of Poland. He is also survived by seven great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Friday, December 12th 2025 from 4:30 PM to 6:30 PM at the Blackstone Funeral Home (672 Churchill Rd, Girard, OH 44420). A funeral service will be held on Friday, December 12th 2025 from 6:30 PM to 7:30 PM at the same location.
The family suggests any memorial contributions be made to the Wounded Warrior Project in memory of Jay and his patriotic devotion to his country.
