He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Earnest Bird and Virginia Bird Ward (Wheeler); his wife Betty Jean Gillispie; his sister Delores Bird Ward; and his granddaughter Hope Marie Gress.
He is survived by: his children, Don Bird (Kelly) and Robin Gress; his grandchildren, Jeremy Bird (Kristin), Michelle Hughes (Max), Paul Gress (Kendra) and Jessica Gress; his great grandchildren, Claire Bird and Jeff Hughes; and his sister Wanda Sovine. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, November 12th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Newark Free Will Baptist Church (37 N Westmoor Ave, Newark, OH 43055). A funeral service was held on Wednesday, November 12th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Newark Free Will Baptist Church.
