Though Donald may no longer walk beside us, his memory will forever be enshrined in the fabric of the lives of those Donald touched, a beacon of light guiding us through the darkness. He was predeceased by: his parents, Herman Dale Pheneger and Teresa Elizabeth Pheneger. He is survived by: his wife Diane Pheneger; his siblings, Constance Lee Pheneger and Richard Pheneger; his sons, Donald Pheneger (Alison) and Douglas Pheneger (Beth); and his grandsons, Andrew Pheneger (Jocie Johnson) and Alex Pheneger. He is also survived by numerous cousins and friends.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Dawes Arboretum in memory of Donald's commitment to nature and education.
