He was predeceased by: his parents, Donald Shafer and Maxine Toeppe (Schmitke); his stepfather Robert Toeppe; and his brother Lane Shafer. He is survived by: his wife Tina Shafer; his children, Becky Shafer (Jim Reese) and Brian Shafer (Bekah); his grandchildren, Joseph, Jamie, Jacob, Quinn, Danie, Audrey, Parker (Mackenzie) and Grant (Liberty); his great grandchild Rhett; his sister Linda Evans; and his stepsiblings, Joanne Gerber (Gregg), Janet Brown and Terry Toeppe. He is also survived by numerous in-laws nieces and nephews.
Memorials can be made in his honor to the Green Springs Rural Volunteer Fire Department.
