He is survived by : his grandchildren, Alexander, Elliot and Blake; his wife Traci Powell (Swift) of Green Springs; his children, Troy Powell (Amanda) of Bellevue, Taryn Trzcinski (Nathan) of Tiffin and Thane Powell (Michael Rexrode) of Marysville; his father John Thomas Powell, Sr. of Stonecreek; and his siblings, John Thomas Powell, Jr. (Sharon) of Portage and Laura Miller (Jay) of Stonecreek.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the National MS (Multiple Sclerosis) Society or the Cleveland Clinic Mellon Center.
