We announce the death of Joan Swabb of Greenville, Ohio, who passed away on October 6, 2026, at the age of 89. Joan will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, James Elmer and Iva Florance Pitsenbarger (Sowers); her husband Robert H. Swabb; her sons, Jeffrey Smith and Richard Grimes; and her siblings, Mary Connell, Evelyn Lavey, Edie Yahne, Norma Trent and Gene Pitsenbarger.
She is survived by: her children, Kay (Jim Weaver), Janell Grimes, Robert Smith (Rhonda Black) and David (Michele Grimes); her siblings, Bill Pitsenbarger and Alice Sanders; her foster brother Eugene Metler; and her niece Barbara Clark. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; 17 great great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Monday, October 12th 2026 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Zechar Bailey Funeral Home (1499 N Broadway St, Greenville, OH 45331).
