He was predeceased by: his mother Dora Underwood; his former wife Betty Underwood; and his sons, Brian and Tommy Underwood. He is survived by: his wife Gilda Weyrick (Sue); and his son John Lee Underwood Jr. (Etta Thumburg). He is also survived by great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 28th 2026 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the O. R. Woodyard South Chapel. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 28th 2026 at 1:00 PM at the same location.
