He was predeceased by : his parents, Carl Pennington and Beulah'Louise' Pennington (Whitt). He is survived by : his wife Leona Johnson; and his siblings, Barbara Delong (Roger), Glen Pennington (Tammy), Anthony Pennington (Diane), Ed Pennington (Wanda), Brenda (Robert), Carol Sams (Rick), Jason Pennington (Christi) and Johnathan Pennington (Kari). He is also survived by many foster siblings, nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held on Friday, April 12th 2024 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Jagers & Sons Funeral Home (24 Morris Ave, Athens, OH 45701). A funeral service was held on Saturday, April 13th 2024 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
