He was predeceased by: his parents, Elden Rains and Elizabeth Rains (Mauthner); and his brothers, Dave Rains (Sheila) and Tom Rains (Karen). He is survived by: his children, Linda Collins (Joe), Sandra Lawall (Mike), Matthew Rains (Kat Hathaway) and Christina Walsh (Carl). He is also survived by 13 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
Visitation was held on Friday, September 19th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Saturday, September 20th 2025 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM. The military honors was held on Friday, September 19th 2025 at 8:00 PM at the Brown Dawson Flick Funeral Home (1350 Millville Ave, Hamilton, OH 45013). A Mass was held on Saturday, September 20th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the St. Julie Billiart Catholic Church (224 Dayton St, Hamilton, OH 45011).
