He was predeceased by: his parents, Clark McSwain and Annie McSwain (Wigglesworth); his wife Betty McSwain; his brothers, Arthur and Merle McSwain; and his grandson Sean McSwain.

He is survived by: his sons, Ronald McSwain (Lola), Gary McSwain (Cheryl) and Michael McSwain (Susan); and his grandchildren, Maribeth Pennekamp (Lance), William McSwain, Tony Frye, Ryan McSwain (Lauren), Daniel McSwain (Kristin), Micah McSwain (Junko) and Andrew McSwain (Jenna). He is also survived by seventeen great-grandchildren; and one great-great granddaughter.
