He was predeceased by: his parents, Louis Schmidt and Marie Schmidt (Roessner); his son John Schmidt; his daughter-in-law Kim Schmidt; his siblings, Joseph, Marge Schmidt, Bill, Eunice Schmidt, Ben, Betty Schmidt, Rose and Joe Darby; and his brothers-in-law, Carl Rehmert, Ivo Rammel, Tom Gall and Mike Weaver.
He is survived by: his wife Jean M. Schmidt; his children, David Schmidt (Loretta), Robert Schmidt, Linda Howard (Daniel), Donald Schmidt (Cindy), James Schmidt and Janet Kytle (Ken); and his siblings, Julie Rehmert, Les Schmidt, Margo Rammel, Karen Steinbrunner (Walt), Evan Schmidt (Janice), Mary Gall and Arlene Weaver. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
