He was predeceased by: his parents, John Oscar Fry and Zerelda McKhann Fry; his wife Phyllis; and his son-in-law Greg Richardson. He is survived by: his children, Jay Fry (Linda), Beth Reagh (Ron) and Julie Richardson; his grandchildren, Natalie McMath (Mike), Kristianne Fry, Zane Fry, Katie, Christopher Reagh (Chantel), Abby Richardson (Jake), Jamos Richardson (Sally), Ryan Richardson (Rachael) and Jacob Richardson; his great grandchildren, Iris, Ewen McMath, Caroline, Dylan, Reagan, Ty Slager, Quintin, Jase, Grant, Bryce Richardson, Liam, Ella and Brynn Richardson; and his sister Nancy Sturgeon.
Jay's contributions to football were recognized with induction into the Cedarville Hall of Fame Miami University Hall of Fame, Guelph Hall of Fame, Butler County Hall of Fame, National Football League Alumni Hall of Fame, and Indiana Football Hall of Fame.
