He was predeceased by: his parents, Harold Young Sr. and Gladys Young (Clark); his wife Lois Young (Caudill); his son John Young, Jr.; and his siblings, Loretta Coles, Bessie Ketter, Betty Young, David Young, Frank Young, Harold Young, Jr., James Young and Joseph Young.
He is survived by: his children, Patty Mays, Mark Young (Rhonda) and Richard Young (Cynthia); his grandchildren, Melissa Estep, John Young III, Ashley Rose, Christina Ureta, Jeremy Young, Samantha Basil, Thomas Young, Dylan Young, Blake Young and Catherine Young; his sister Margaret Ann Theiss; his daughter-in-law Irene Young; his friend Mark Doty; and his siblings-in-law, Bettie Jefferys and Tony Caudill (Ida). He is also survived by 14 great-grandchildren, numerous other relatives and friends.
