He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Earl and Ruth Jane Stanton (Basham); and his stepfather Maurice Shepler. He is survived by: his wife Ruth Grathwohl; his sister Sandra Moore; and his nieces, Ruth Gingry (Chris) and Sue Wooley (David).

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the First United Methodist Church of Hamilton or the charity of one's choosing.
