He was predeceased by : his siblings, Donald Smith, Robert Smith (Mary Jane), Gerry Smith and Ronald Smith; and his parents, Robert Smith and Helen Smith (Snyder).

He is survived by : his wife Bonnie Smith (Bucher); and his siblings, Sharon Smith and Darryl Smith (Susan). He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

“My uncle Marvin was a nice, sweet, and loving caring person. I miss his laughter and smile. God took him away from us far way too soon. I know he is up in heaven in the hands of God. I know god will take care of my uncle Marvin. He was a tough fighter and warrior. Until we meet again in heaven take care uncle Marvin I will miss you always. Wish you were still here doing all of the things you loved to do golfing, gambling, going to the horse race track and going to bucket heads. Miss you!”
