It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of John R. Prater Sr. of Harrod, Ohio, who passed away on April 7, 2025, at the age of 84, leaving to mourn family and friends. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, William Pratter and Minnie Pratter (Jones); his children, Johnny Richard "Rich" Prater, Jr. and Latonia Sue Prater; his granddaughter Heather Oatman; and his siblings, Wayne Pratter, Lucine Prater, Carey "Junior" Prater, David Prater, Jean Morarity, Velma Knisley and Wilda Hayner.
He is survived by: his wife Evelyn Downey; his daughter Amy Williams (Kenny); his grandchildren, Blake Williams (Celeste), Megan Broadstone (Brady), Richie Prater (Kayla), Eric Prater (Omnia) and Abby Prater (Chris Scott); and his sisters, Thelma Deatley of Arcadia, FL and Annie Huff (Ray) of Jeffersonville.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Alger First Methodist Church, Drawer C, Alger, Ohio 45812.
